Dave Merrill is Executive Chairman and co-founder of Elroy Air, where a team of experts is building autonomous vertical-takeoff-and-landing drones to enable delivery of critical cargo for defense, commercial, and rapid response. Its advisors and board include retired U.S. military generals and the 27th Secretary of Defense. Earlier in his career, Dave founded Sifteo — a tactile learning/entertainment platform spun out of his MIT Ph.D. which shipped 2 versions and was subsequently acquired by drone pioneer 3D Robotics. Dave was an EIR and Venture Partner at early-stage hardware VC Lemnos, and he started his career with research in computer science and sensor-based interfaces for human-computer interaction at Stanford and MIT. Interested in aerospace, drones, robotics, embodied AI, re-industrialization, deep tech, dual-use startups, and mobility/vehicle tech. In his spare time Dave is a surfer, sourdough bread baker, cloud photographer, and DIY workshop tinkerer with his kids.
